STEM GARDEN PROJECT

The STEM Garden Project led several field trips to the Farm in April to provide Waxahachie Independent School District (WISD) students in the WISD Life Skills Classes, Global High School, Northside Elementary, and Turner Pre-K the opportunity to learn about gardening and the Texas Blackland Prairie’s natural heritage.  Parents and volunteers from the Waxahachie Seniors Center and other local organizations staffed various interactive stations, including a nature walk and scavenger hunt, and demonstrations and activities to teach about birds, trees, bees & butterflies, and rainwater conservation.  Organized and led by STEM Garden Project Director, Jeanee Smiles, the field trips were a great success, and the Farm looks forward to hosting future outings.  See Home – Stem Education Garden for more information on the project and click to see photos or a video of the field trips to the Farm.
