Celebrate Spring at the Prairie Wildlife and Wildflower Adventure, Sunday, April 26, 2026, 2 PM – 4 PM at the Ellis County Rural Heritage Farm. ADMISSION AND ACTIVITIES ARE FREE! Bring your family and kids and grandkids to enjoy a Sunday afternoon in the country. Enjoy FREE wildflower walks, interactive exhibits, and demonstrations about the wildlife, birds, flowers, plants, and trees native to the rich Blackland Prairie of Texas with a particular emphasis on fun and educational children’s activities. In partnership with the Indian Trail Chapter of the Master Naturalists, this year’s activities will feature, in addition to wildflower walks, how to create a nature journal, a craft table for making colorful chenille pipe cleaner bees, learning about spittle bugs and their importance in the natural world, seeing live critters that inhabit the Blackland Prairie, and viewing a rainwater harvesting system that has been installed at the Farm. A special treat for the event is FREE live music by Members of the Lone Star State Dulcimer Society.
