Ellis County Rural Heritage Farm Inc
Hallway
The long hallway cooled and ventilated the interior of the house via opening the front and back doors of the house.
The walls of the hallway record the history of the Aday Family Farm and the McKinney-Aday Farmhouse, including photos of the major previous owners of the property: Henry McKinney, Mattie and Marvin Aday, and the current owner Lu Ann Aday.
Photos document Marvin Aday’s being the first to be enrolled in the USDA’s Conservation Reserve Program in Ellis County as well as the family of Ellis County Blacksmith Eulie French and the important role he played in helping area farmers.
A large-format photo shows the Marvin and Mattie Aday family farm headquarters before being taken by the Superconducting Collider and an original oil painting portrays the barn and back pasture of the current farm in the 1980s.
Marvin Aday’s two footlockers from World War II contain clothing and toys from Lu Ann’s childhood.
The arrowheads were collected by Marvin Aday in Ellis County.
The 1889 map, donated by the family of Tom Johnson, shows the major surveys that constituted early Ellis County.
