Front Porch

The house is a prairie style farmhouse completed in 1913 by Waxahachie builder Jack Harris.  The original owner was Henry McKinney, a widower and former Texas Ranger.  He lived in the house along with his unmarried daughter and his married daughter and her husband and their two children.

Lu Ann Aday, the current owner, inherited the house and property from her parents, Marvin and Mattie Aday, who were family farmers.  Lu Ann and her family did not live in the farmhouse.  Their farm home was about two miles west on FM 66 and was appropriated by the Superconducting Super Collider in 1990.

Major furnishings in the house were owned by Lu Ann’s parents or grandparents.

The house was restored in 2011 and in 2013 was designated as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark.  It is now used as a living history museum portraying the life of early 20th century farm families.
