SUSTAINABILITY PLANNING FOR THE FARM

The Farm is being considered for designation as a Texas Historical Commission (THC) State Historic Site.  The Farm has successfully completed Phase I of a three-phase evaluation for this designation.  Phase II is actively underway.  This is very exciting news for the future of the Farm!  The THC Phase II Review Committee visited the Farm on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.  Committee Members included Gavin Mičulka, Site Manager, Kreische Brewery/Monument Hill; Amanda Cagle, Regional Collections Manager, Star of the Republic Museum; Amanda Lanum, Assistant Site Manager, Sam Rayburn House; Scott Whitley, Assistant Site Manager, Starr Family Home; Barbara Judkins, Site Manager, Starr Family Home & Phase II Review Committee Chair; and Dan Valenzuela, Historic Sites Architect.  At their meeting on July 30-31, 2026, the Texas Historical Commission Board of Commissioners will decide if the Farm should advance to the Phase III (and final) stage of evaluation as a State Historic Site.  There is more work to be done.  Nonetheless, it is an honor to be considered for this prestigious designation.
