The Board of Directors is planning for the future of the Farm. The principal issues being considered are (1) how to continue the mission of the Farm based on a more sustainable organizational model; (2) seeking local government or an established nonprofit organization with a complementary mission to become the Owner of the Farm in the future; (3) preserving the 145-acre Farm as open space in perpetuity through the Conservation Easement placed on the property under the auspices of the Texas Land Conservancy; and (4) converting a rent house and second barn on FM 66 to a Visitors Center and Event Space, respectively. Lu Ann Aday, Current Owner of the property and President of the Ellis County Rural Heritage Farm Inc Board of Directors, made a presentation to the Ellis County Commissioners Court at their regular meeting on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, regarding the history and future of the Farm.
